different walks of life going in the same direction.
another rose wilts in east harlem
and uptown downtown a thousand miles between us
she's waiting for the night to fall
let it fall, i'll never make it in time
-beirut
when i moved back to nyc from los angeles, one of the things i was most looking forward to was taking the subway. others can complain as much as they want, but, to me, there's something special about taking the subway with mass amounts of folk, all different walks of life going in the same direction. new york city's first official subway system opened in manhattan on october 27, 1904. so today, i pay homage to it's anniversary.

electric chair.
if a man is considered guilty
for what goes on in his mind
then give me the electric chair
for all my future crimes
-christina aguilera
yesterday i worked with a client who, unlike most people, is not afraid of color. in fact, she wants to do a host and hostess chair at the dining table in... hot pink. be still my heart. i love clients who think outside the box, aren't afraid to take a few risks, and are just plain cool like that. so i decided to do a little research and here's some images that inspired me.

chevron.
i love bold patterns. shocker. chevron, better known as zig zag, falls into the same category as houndstooth and herringbone and checkered. angular lines that like to make a statement. they are the ones who announce themselves in a room. "yeah, i'm bold. so what." i am instantly attracted to such boldness, be it in interiors, fashion, personalities, music, whatever. they're fun and loud, but simple.

orange you glad.
Syracuse bleeds it. Hermes boxes it. October screams it. Orange!
A bold color, if you will. But when used in the right tone and place, it can make a room evermore stylized. Orange is known as a "social color", in that it creates an energy that encourages conversation.
