table[scaping] and beyond.

yesterday i went to the architectural digest show at the pier. the main reason i attend the show is to see the 'dining by design' installation. this takes table-scaping to a whole new level. designers, architects, and artists dream up these elaborate dining installations. dinner parties on crack is what i like to call some of them. this is imagination at its best.

tanlines.

check out tanlines, a brooklyn duo who has been on my radar lately. i was initially hooked by their similarity to vampire weekend, but the sound quickly evolves into their own.

summer lovin.

summer lovin
happened so fast
-grease

it's march madness. yes, it's college basketball mayhem, but it's also madness with this weather. mid march and 80 degrees. i mean, i'll take it. with this looming heat upon us, it's time to get summer ready. i know what you're thinking. it's too early. but before you know it, you'll be putting your kids on the bus for summer camp and your weekends in july and august will be filled up. and so begins the fun. bright colors, poolside accessories, beachy accents, navy stripes, and seashells everywhere. at the gift show, i fell in love with these bins, tubs & caddies you can personalize. such a great idea for a gift at your first summer pool party, or scoop up the towel bins and make your friends jealous at your beach club.

graffiti the world.

i see you writin on my wall, why you wanna do that
my name is tagged, you already see that
-chris brown

au vieux panier, a hotel in marseille, france, commissions artists to re-conceptualize a few of their guest rooms. graffiti artist tilt took it to a whole new level by dividing the stark white room down the middle and completely covering half in his loud graffiti art.

re.blog.

if you don't already read 'the cool hunter', you're missing out. it's an all encompassing design blog that this designers palette aspires to be. bill tikos, founder of the cool hunter, is a creative genius. he seeks out art and then relays it to his audience in a very polished manner. as he puts it, the cool hunter "stays relevant by staying ahead of and outside of trends and fads... the cool hunter digs deeper, finding tomorrow's icons and classic phenomena."

you've heard the phrase 'imitation is the highest form of flattery.' well, in the internet world, re-blogging is the highest form of flattery. here is a re.blog from tch on david webb's flagship store in new york.
