hockey is a band you should know. it really upsets me to think that they weren't a part of my music library for as long as they've been around. but rest assure, i found them. well.... i was introduced to them via online dating (cue embarrassed face). the point is, they are now a part of my music library, they are on my festival radar, and just a huge part of my life. love their sound and style.
dance, punk, indie, rock.... they fall into all of these categories. compared mostly to lcd soundsystem or the strokes or bob dylan (believe it or not). they haven't released any new music since 2009 and 2 members of the band split in 2010, so let's put our thoughts and prayers together, in hopes of some new hockey music.

there's something enchanting about one's front door. it stands as the guard to what lies within. whenever i see a on old restored barn door or a lacquered color door as one's entrance to their home, i begin to imagine how sick the interior decor must be.

i am beyond obsessed with this room. high styled and funky. the color palette. the furniture selection. the tufting. the woodwork in the walls. the design in the drink table. the lines in the coffee table. the flower selection. the carefully chosen accents. i just want to sit in this room, read a book by the fire, and drink a nice full glass of wine (cab sauvignon please). and then i want to have a fabulous party to show it off.

i am in the midst of designing a lilac inspired office for a client. when she requested that we use purple as the accent color, i was immediately excited. as i've said before, i love clients who aren't afraid of a little pop. here's the vision board i came up with. it's still soft and maintains a neutral palette, with light touches of different shades of purple.

lyle owerko, a photographer & filmmaker, is known for his urban images, as well as the powerful image that appeared on the cover of time magazine's september 11th issue. his portfolio speaks loudly, but i was immediately drawn to his visual timeline of the era of the boombox, also known as "the boombox project." also referred to as "ghetto blaster" or "jam box", the boombox represents our pop culture that dominated the 1980s. just imagine the boombox. where do your thoughts take you? mine automatically transcend me back to lloyd dobler standing outside with the boombox over his head, trying to win over the girl he lost. a moment that stands the test of time. a moment every girl wants to happen to her.
i'm a timeline type of person, in that i love seeing things evolve over time. to see the changes that take place based on an audience's needs or to be the cause whereby the audience is the effect. it's especially engaging when this "thing" that evolves relates to music.
december 1st. i smell snow. maybe not. this 50 degree new york weather is nice and all, but i'm pretty excited about a wintry wonderland. this weekend marks the beginning to my ski season. and what better way to kick it off than in deer valley, utah.
