ny gift show.

i spent a few days at the ny gift show. all in all it was a successful few days. i saw some great new pieces and found a few new companies that will do really well in just 4 the home. one thing we're trying to expand is our art. we have some fantastic companies, but we've recently decided to carry some extraordinary pieces that you just get lost in. you know those pieces where price tags might take a back seat because you just have to have the piece. that's what i'm going for. for example, how beautiful is this music piece. my two favorite things in one: art and music.

this piece is actually 16 different pieces of sheet music fused together to embody the beautiful organized chaos of music.

i also fell in love with these two chairs. fun, comfy, and bright.

as you can see, i'm very attracted to the purple palette these days. i love this area. and the art is fantastic.

and this artwork too. a bit aztec(ish).

who doesn't want to travel with these pieces. you'll never lose your luggage.

a few other items that stopped me in my tracks.

crack the shutters.

crack the shutters open wide

nothing compliments colorful shutters than a bushel of blossomed hydrangeas. pure happiness. i mean, who can look at these and not think sweet smells, laughter, and warm sun on a clear blue day. every day on my drive to work, i pass the most adorable small home. it has periwinkle blue shutters, and a baby blue front door nestled between 2 rotund bushes of white hydrangeas, with subtle blue shadows throughout. a painting, if you will. it's as if only the freshest air surrounds this home. take a look at these and you'll know the feeling i'm describing.

-kanye west

i'm headed to my first lollapalooza festival tomorrow. as you know, i love music. it's the only thing that affects me as much as art. so when the two are combined... well, i'm completely in awe. an artist is an artist, be it musical or visual. we're all connected in this creative world. check out these lollapalooza festival posters from years past. wicked cool.

camp.

set out runnin but I take my time, a friend of the devil is a friend of mine
if i get home before daylight, i just might get some sleep tonight
-grateful dead

camp has always been a big part of my life. i was a camper for years, a counselor for many summers, and am now a proud alumnus. this past weekend i went up to the adirondacks for our camp's annual alumni weekend. up in the luscious green mountains, with a lake that sparkles with the day's yellow sun or the night's big round moon. and don't get me started on the stars. so being at camp got me into the whole log cabin, outdoorsy spirit. i also realized that my dream is to build a log cabin mansion on a glistening lake. take a look at some fun ideas for this camp look.
